This is the second to the biggest size in Ortlieb’s top of the line cylinder drybags, and the largest one that we carry in stock. Ortlieb gives the volume as 79 liters, but a more useful measurement is that with the top folded five times (which is plenty for a watertight seal as long as you do a good job rolling), the inside volume is about two and a half cubic feet on the nose. It is 13” in diameter, and a max of about 32” to 33” tall when sealed.
The green panel & bottom are strong 1000 denier European pvc, and all the remainder of the bag is beefy black 1000 denier cordura with coating on the interior side. As roll-top dry bags go, there are none tougher than these.
Unlike the smaller one we carry, we order this size with an air relief valve, allowing you to minimize its volume.
There is a nice carry handle, two nylon D-rings at the snap closure, and a fabric loop on the bottom, all of which can be used for securing it when going down a river. We also carry a 59 liter size in the same series, though without the valve. All the Ortliebs have a five year warranty, which is nearly unheard of for drybags. Unlike almost every bag you will find on almost every river supply website, these are made in Germany – not China.
