Carabiners & Pulleys
Carabiners & Pulleys from CMI, Omega, and Liberty Mountain are found here. These items are used by rafters and kayakers for a number of different rescue applications. Often boats become pinned on rocks, and if there is only a small group of paddlers to pull that boat off it's rock, you will need to gain mechanical advantage. This is where the pulleys come in, and carabiners are almost always part of the rigging as well. A single carabiner clipped to your lifevest can be very handy on it's own. For example, if you need to clip into a raft's bowline, but that rope is under the water, a biner allows you to quickly dive under to the rope, clip in, and be done in seconds. Much better than trying those knot skills while holding your breath, eh?
Also note that we have a new rescue item, the Wildwater Snag Plate, listed with our throwbags. It's another great way to recover submerged lines.
