For quality cataraft tubes, we recommend our bestsellers: AIRE, Rocky Mountain, and Maxxon. The Rocky Mountains and Maxxons offer low cost-per-year over their lifespan, and the AIREs provide a large variety of American made tubes from 12' to 18' with continuous curve design and great handling. Rocky Mountain concentrates on the popular 14' and 16' sizes, plus the 12' PhatCat paddle boat. Maxxon pontoons range from 10' to 16', with some giant 22' and 26' lengths also available on occasion. AIRE gives you a choice of three different series of tubes, plus two paddle cat models. Only one of those two are shown below, but the other, the Mammoth, can be special ordered. Since 2019 Maxxon tubes are now welded, which will increase their lifespans.

As of this 2020 update we are not sure if AIRE will still build the 13’ Wildcat and 14’ Ocelot Cataraft tubes by special order, but call us if you are interested and we will check.

All models & brands we carry feature frame chafe pads on the tube tops with the lone exception of the RMR PhatCat. In the case of the AIRE’s it is not actually a separate piece of material, but rather a section of thicker gray fabric cut & welded into the tube top. This does help keep discoloration and staining from your rowing frame to a minimum. Both zinc-galvanized steel and aluminum will leave black marks, unless the metal is powder coated.
