Description

Ever since we quit using these clunky industrial flat blade paddles for rentals, the interest in them as a resale item has steadily waned. To the degree that we probably won’t be stocking them anymore, so call first before going to the shopping cart. We have only sold a couple in the first seven months of 2015. The problem is that few people seem interested anymore in running rivers, much less paddling flat water, with a heavy inefficient means of propulsion. A second and different problem is that there is also nothing else very strong for under $100. We have many better options for those who are boating on bays, lakes, flat streams, or in the ocean. For those looking for a spare whitewater paddle, we do have the 4-piece Bravo paddle which seems a good option.

For anyone considering this as a primary paddle, they are still available through a handful of other dealers, but your enjoyment of river running can be greatly hindered with the wrong gear. The Caviness version of this paddle in the 7’6” size weighs in at almost 3-3/4 pounds, and along with the great heft, flat blades don’t make for an efficient stroke.

As of early August, we have a few on these left in the 7’ size but we are just about cleaned out in the 7’6”. So again, call or email first before doing a cart order.

We have a very few handle adapter kits left for Carlisle flat blade paddles in this section of our site as well (a handle kit turns one Carlisle take-apart into two canoe/raft paddles). These do not work for the Caviness brand because Caviness drills their button holes in a different location from Carlisle.
