NRS Pilot River Rescue Knife
Overview
The Pilot knife was new last year and seems to be a worthy addition to the choices available to rafters and kayakers. The sheath attaches very easily into either a knife lash, which many lifevests have, or with a 1" or 1-1/4" strap to the shoulder area, by means of a very snug clip on the back side. The knife itself locks into the sheath by means of opposing detents that snap though a small slot in the handle area. You squeeze two grips at the bottom of the sheath to release the knife. The grip area is orange, and the overall length of the knife is 7-3/8". With the sheath it's 1/4" longer. Other than the vulcanized rubber grip, the whole knife is machined out out one solid piece of metal. This is a double edged blunt tip model, keen on one edge and serrated on the other. The price is $59.
Note that there is also a shorter "Co-Pilot" version of this knife on our site.
