Maxxon XSB-320 Whitewater Raft 10 1/2 Feet - Tough as Nails!
Along with the little 9' XSB-270 model, the other small whitewater raft in the Maxxon line-up is the self bailing 10’6” XSB-320. Like the other Maxxon rafts, this one has a flat drop stitch floor, ideal for anglers who want to stand directly on the floor to cast rather than having to jury rig a tiny casting platform (this is a narrow boat so not much room for plywood!). Seams on Maxxon boats are now welded. This model is probably best suited as a two to three person paddle raft or two person fishing boat with a small oar frame. It is fairly narrow at 4’9”, and has 18” tubes. There are two main air chambers, plus the floor, and one thwart. It has continuous curve main tubes for better hull speed, and comes with a carry wrapper and foot pump.
If you need a little fishing or paddle raft that can either roll up relatively small, or squeeze into a small trailer or pick-up bed, this model is well worth looking into. However, if you just want a general purpose 10'6" raft with a bit more capacity, for about 10% more in cost you would be well advised to also look at the Rocky Mountain Storm. The Storm has two thwarts, not one, and a larger footprint on the water in case you want to stuff a fourth paddler on board. Overall it can hold at least 100 pounds more. There are generously long rowing frame chafers, but again, the tight 22” to 23” interior width does limit the footbar width of frame you use. It also has bottom chafers, and about seven inches of bow and stern rise. Standard colors, like the larger XSB-390, are blue, gray, green, and orange. The XSB-320 weighs 66 pounds with the thwart, and comes with a five year warranty. Extra thwarts are not available at this time, but could be in the future. Call for color availability.
