There is also a newer
XL size solo Tomcat model called the
Max, with bigger tubes and a wider stance, and by far the highest payload capacity of any solo inflatable kayak made. However, the interior width will not be much different - if any - from the normal model. It is sort of an import version of AIRE's solo Outfitter kayak.
Any accessories purchased with your Tributary Tomcat are 10% off. Note that our shopping cart as yet does NOT reflect these discounts - it will show a higher total so we will adjust the bottom line before ringing the transaction through.
This imported whitewater inflatable kayak weighs in at 34 pounds and is now made with a stronger base fabric. The standard seat is an inflatable pillow style, but you can also buy a Cheetah Chair (the standard seat that comes with most other AIRE kayaks) or a 12" AIRE kayak thwart backrest. The Tomcat's width is about 37" so a 225cm or 230cm paddle works best.
AIRE Tributary Tomcat Solo Inflatable Kayak Cargo Space
These are an excellent choice for folks who want to do self supported multi-day whitewater inflatable kayak trips because they have a ton of tie-down loops and lots of room behind the seat (and in front, depending on seat position) for gear, and plenty of payload capacity. The Tomcat and AIRE Outfitter I can both handle 300+ pounds without swamping.
Tomcat Solos' don't inflate as quite as rock-hard as the American models, but the newer 1000 denier fabric is quite firm. This model has also dropped a good four pounds in weight with the new material.
